Reliable telematics for gas transportation
We want a system that works, offers accessible customer support, […] is continuously improved and maintained: What more could you ask for?
Since its foundation, Adam Serr Spedition GmbH has consistently looked to the future, driven by a passion for innovation and a focus on new technologies. The company specializes in the food sector and operates a modern fleet of refrigerated trucks capable of transporting goods at temperatures ranging from –25°C to +25°C. With this specialization, Adam Serr positions itself as a reliable partner for temperature-sensitive transport, where precision and reliability are essential.

More InformationDominik Schmitt, who has been with Adam Serr since 2008 and serves as fleet manager and authorized signatory responsible for insurance management, claims management, vehicle monitoring, purchasing, and sales, sums up the company's strategic orientation: “We want to move with the times.“ This approach has led to Adam Serr now operating over 160 tractor units, of which 14 are already electrically powered. This bold investment in e-mobility shows that the company is not just blindly following trends, but is actively helping to shape them.
Albert Bolinth, executive assistant and with the company for over 35 years, reports on the beginnings of this transformation: “We actually started this three years ago. It was, among other things, a requirement from a customer.” This customer requirement developed into an opportunity. Today, Adam Serr operates with eight vehicles in the operational sector and has increased its own fleet to six electric vehicles.
The experiences so far have been unexpectedly positive. “We were pleasantly surprised, how well it actually works, despite the groundwork we had to do, but ultimately, it works quite well," Bolinth summarizes.
A common argument against electric vehicles in heavy goods transport is economic viability. Adam Serr takes a different view: “The main purpose of electromobility is to achieve carbon neutrality. The focus should really be on protecting the environment. Of course, they also need to be economically viable.“
The electric truck can compete with diesel – and not just in terms of the environment. “If you operate it sensibly, they can be at least as cost-effective, if not slightly cheaper, to operate.“, says Bolinth, speaking from his experiences to date.
As a transport company, the right telematics system also plays an important role. In this regard, Trendfire has proven to be the ideal partner for Adam Serr. They first met at Transport Logistic in 2015, and the initial relationship was characterized by straightforward communication. Albert Bolinth reports with conviction: “If anyone were to ask me about a good telematics solution for the transport industry, I could recommend Trendfire with a very clear conscience because they simply cover a very broad product portfolio, and if something isn't covered, they are very innovative and very fast to implement improvements.“
Adam Serr is certainly no novice when it comes to telematics. “We started working with telematics back in the late 1990s,“ explains Albert Bolinth. However, the previous provider was unable to keep pace with the growing demands. That's why Adam Serr decided to switch to Trendfire Telematics in 2015.
For drivers, tablet-based communication offers significant added value. Not only can they see the temperature profile of their trailer, but also quickly receive all necessary information about their tours quickly: loading number, unloading number, time, and the temperature to be set on the trailer.
“This also means there are no misunderstandings between the dispatcher and the driver, because the driver then has everything immediately to hand in written form on their tablet,” explains the fleet manager. This type of digital communication eliminates misunderstandings and boosts efficiency.
Trendfire's web-based portal roadlox stands out for its user-friendliness. “Good, clear, easy to understand, no complicated procedures,“ Schmitt sums up succiently. He particularly likes the open communication, where messages and images can be sent.
A major advantage lies in event management. Thanks to notifications, the workshop always knows when a vehicle is due for an oil change or service. “This way, there are no problems with a truck travelling for a long time without maintenance being done simply because the driver might not be paying attention,“ Schmitt gratefully explains. The portal ensures that all departments within the company are always informed in good time.
Installing the Trendfire hardware is made much easier with proper preparation. As Adam Serr's trucks always come with the antennas pre-configured to fit, and the rendfire cable harnesses arrive pre-assembled, the installation process is straightforward and hassle-free. “There are absolutely no difficulties in fitting the hardware.”
Adam Serr also speaks very highly of the collaboration with the Trendfire team. “Working with the Trendfire staff is actually very, very good.” But even more remarkable is the reliability of the system itself: “Thankfully, we don’t have to rely on them too much, because the telematics software and the hardware work very reliably. There are practically no failures at all…“ says a cheerful Albert Bolinth.
One of the features that Adam Serr finds particularly valuable seems unremarkable at first glance but makes a big difference in day-to-day operations: the automated download of vehicle tachograph data. “Instead of having to approach every single vehicle, you simply get the data pre-configured and ready to go—that saves an awful lot of manual labor and, above all, the time you’d otherwise have to spend in the truck.”
Dominik Schmitt from Adam Serr sums up his recommendation briefly and concisely: “If you're looking for a good telematics solution, turn to Trendfire. No matter what problem you have, they’ll find a solution—and even if Trendfire doesn’t have the solution yet, they’ll work on one and eventually find it.”
Adam Serr Spedition GmbH impressively demonstrates that electromobility and cost-effective operation are not mutually exclusive. With the right telematics solution with brand-independent electric truck integrationconsistent investment in infrastructure and a team willing to pioneer new approaches, this cutting-edge technology can already be successfully deployed today. The partnership with Trendfire underscores the courage for innovation and the willingness to jointly develop solutions that meet the demands of a changing transport industry and to drive them forward with a sense of urgency.
